Do not say you have never gotten angry. Do not say you have never been mad at someone. Anger is one of the human emotions that all people feel. Even way back in the 1800s, people got mad, sometimes even leading to the extreme of war (because war solves everything). On one particular occasion, four European countries got mad at how Napoleon Bonaparte used his power. They overthrew Napoleon and created a new congress.
The Congress’s job was to decide who would get the land, which the other European countries desperately wanted. They met in Vienna for one year, collaborated for a year on territorial issues, and dealt with one another for a year until decisions were made. They referred to this congress later as the Congress of Vienna. It helped to develop the European community maintain peace. When the Congress enforced its final act in the June of 1815, peace was at hand. That same peace continued for another ten years before war broke out.
The Congress had completed its intended job, and done so with efficiency. After the Congress’s last act the Congress broke up. It kept Europe alive while it was in it darkest days. It brought all of the other countries in Europe to a consensus. It allowed problems to get solved. If the Congress of Vienna had never convened, Europe’s history would be a lot different. Napoleon would have had a longer streak. The Congress of Vienna was Europe’s turning point in history. - Brenndan T.

Imagine a world where 15% of the population was untouchable and unreadable. We virtually lose a portion of the population the size of Europe. Now, there is a way our world earned that 15% back, and it was through sign language. Sign language is a language spoken through hand motions and arm movements. It has saved not only the deaf population by giving them their voices, but it also saved the rest of the world, for that 15% has presented us with some powerful and talented human beings.
The language was invented in 1817, because a man named Thomas Hopkins wanted a deaf girl he saw on the streets to fit in and have a voice. Hopkins ended up opening the first ever sign language school and invented a lot of the signs we still use today.
Now, in schools children do not typically have the privilege to learn this language. Sadly, that is because the school boards prioritize other languages. It is imperative that everyone learns this language one way or another. Learning this language is not only beneficial for communication to the deaf, it also boosts your IQ, and helps you communicate underwater, in loud areas, in silent areas, and in secret.
Overall, sign language is beneficial to everyone, not just our deaf population. I would encourage everyone to give the language a try, for it is extremely helpful in many ways.

Gandhi changed the world by proving that through unity, nonviolence, and intelligence, reforms can be made. He united the people of India and South Africa, led them to commit acts of civil disobedience, and knew how far he needed to push the nonviolent resistance in order to break his opponents, which allowed Gandhi to gain independence for India, and to become one step closer to ending discrimination against colored people in South Africa. By succeeding in his movements, many other people, including leaders and activists all over the world chose nonviolent methods to solve their own problems, such as Rev. Martin Luther King Jr., Nelson Mandela, and Cesar Chavez. Gandhi inspired so many people and movements all around the globe, and continues to do so 149 years after his birth. - Xena S.

The world hit an all-time low in the 1930s. The economy had crashed, just about every citizen of almost every country was forced to beg for food on the streets, and the world’s politics spiraled downhill. The Stock Market Crash of 1929 had devastated the world. Through its devastation, the crash started the Great Depression, caused the deaths of millions of people, and even had a hand in beginning WWII. Every single country’s governments turned inward, shutting out the rest of the world, and that just worsened their situations. No one had any of the resources they needed to help themselves anymore. The crash had happened in the United States, when all of the sudden, tens of millions of shares were sold, and panic began as the market spiraled down from there. After the crash had begun to take effect in America, it spread all around the rest of the world, taking out national stability country by country.

Would you rather travel around the world in 77 hours by plane or 500 hundred hours by car? That is either three days in a plane or 21 days by a car. My topic is important because it talks about how commercial aviation significantly changed the world around us in a positive way, offering a more efficient method of travel. For the last 100 years, airplanes have developed into what they are now today, starting off as a machine able to fly for only five seconds, to eventually traveling from the United States to Australia. My most powerful argument is probably how much faster planes can make you travel around the world than a car traveling in a straight line could. - Brady F.

Without the personal computer access to information would be a lot harder, jobs would be worse for wear, and people would still have a hard time buying and selling goods. Education would be a lot harder, and information would just have remained hard to acquire with most being findable in only libraries and books. Another chang is that now jobs are incredibly easier, safer, and even new ones have been created as a result of the creation. The buying and selling of goods and services has also been greatly improved as a result of Steve Jobs and Wozniak's invention. The two geniuses originally made the Apple I with minimal funding and materials inside of Jobs garage. It’s amazing to think about how they built up their company from so little to one worth billions of dollars. The changes that came from this invention have been exponential, and the world would be set further back, both in a technological aspect, and in how we live today. - Grayson P.

Oceans: the biggest part of the earth and one of the most important parts. Without them, one can not simply explain what would happen. Thankfully we have a chance to save the ocean and all of marine life. There are scientists that can help spread the word and help save the ocean--Marine Biologists.
Through our recent history, oil spills have happened, which are very harmful. The Marine Biologists were there to deal with it and spread the news. They can also help with undiscovered animals and parts of the ocean, deep or shallow. Marine biologists help whenever something is ocean related. With Marine Biologists helping out, the world has a higher chance of being healthy. - Calvin C.
