In a time where men ruled the roost, Marie Curie not only completed college, something almost unheard of for a woman, but she also ended up surpassing all the men in her field in science, including her husband. She was an amazing person that inspired women to use their abilities to their full potential, especially in the field of science. She went through lots of rough times but always persevered, including radiation sickness, going blind, and losing her husband suddenly and without warning. She also helped out immensely during the war. She created a mobile X-ray unit that she used to diagnose and treat injuries on the battlefield and taught other women use it too. She also found two elements, polonium and radium and her work in the scientific field has formed our future in the science world. - Cadence H.
